The Lung Cancer Study Group (GECP) is leading an innovative project to standardize the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to lung cancer in Portugal. A significant heterogeneity in current practices was found, motivating the creation of a national consensus that will serve as a guiding tool in clinical practice throughout the country.
To develop these consensuses, 17 working groups were created, each responsible for developing a specific chapter related to their area of specialization. The groups will be based on the latest European guidelines and current scientific literature to define the parameters and recommendations defined by the experts in each group.
With this initiative, the GECP aims to harmonize and increase the quality of care provided to patients with lung cancer in Portugal, ensuring that all healthcare professionals have access to the best practices based on the most recent and robust evidence.
