6th Lung Cancer Meeting brings together iOncoCare and GECP in Aveiro

On November 7, 2026, iOncoCare and the Lung Cancer Study Group (GECP) will host the 6th Lung Cancer Meeting. Organized scientifically by Dr. Fernanda Estevinho and Dr. Ana Figueiredo, the event will take place at the Hotel Meliá Ria in Aveiro, from 9:00 AM to 4:15 PM, bringing together specialists dedicated to a multidisciplinary approach to thoracic oncology.

Designed to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and daily clinical practice, the program features round-table discussions, interactive reviews of complex cases, and opportunities for professionals from various specialties to share their expertise.

The opening session explores the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on clinical practice, examining diagnostic gains, implementation strategies, and the ethical boundaries associated with integrating these tools into healthcare.

The program also highlights a session titled “Networked Diagnosis”—a multidisciplinary quiz centered on diagnostic challenges in imaging and pathology—which encourages collective discussion regarding diagnostic algorithms.

The evolution of systemic treatments will be a key focus, with a panel dedicated to identifying and managing new toxicities, including cytokine release syndrome, neurotoxicity (ICANS), and psychiatric or dermatological adverse events linked to novel therapeutic agents. The meeting will also revisit challenging clinical cases involving radiotherapy, respiratory complications, and the optimization of symptom management.

To conclude the event, a session titled “Caring for the Caregivers” offers a space to reflect on the strain experienced by healthcare professionals. Topics for discussion include the impact of divided attention, the cumulative cognitive fatigue inherent in hospital routines, and strategies to prevent burnout within the field of oncology. Registration for the 6th iOncoCare & GECP Lung Cancer Meeting is free of charge; however, capacity is limited, and advance registration via the official event website is mandatory.
