Dr. Catarina Travancinha was one of the moderators of “Round Table 1: News from Congresses – Artificial Intelligence” and, in the aftermath of the session, highlighted the main topics under discussion.
The Radiation Oncology specialist, who is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Lung Cancer Study Group (GECP), emphasized that Artificial Intelligence (AI) “is transforming several areas of medicine,” highlighting its potential application in various phases of the journey of patients with lung cancer. She also highlighted the three presentations at the table, conducted by specialists in Radiation Oncology, Pathology, and Radiology, reinforcing that these are areas where AI is already present.
She concluded with a note regarding the need for specific training for healthcare professionals and the importance of ensuring that AI tools are effectively integrated into the joint work of clinicians and technicians.
