We remember some of the best moments of the Spring Meeting with the balance made by Dr.ª Marta Soares, member of the board of the Grupo de Estudos do Cancer do Lung (GECP).
On the main theme of this meeting, the pulmonologist comments that “at this moment, patients with lung cancer live longer and, therefore, the probability of having, throughout their course of disease, metastasis in the system central nervous system is much larger. Fortunately, we have new therapeutic weapons that allow us to approach these patients with a better quality of life.”
From this meeting, the participants concluded that “based on a multidisciplinary perspective, where the role of surgery, radiotherapy and even new chemotherapy agents in controlling the disease in the central nervous system is considered, it is possible to place each of these techniques in the approach of these patients”, says the specialist.
