Interview with Dr. Ana Figueiredo – Viral Check

As part of Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Ana Figueiredo, President of the Board of Directors of the Lung Cancer Study Group (GECP), spoke with Viral Check, addressing topics such as female mortality associated with the disease.

Smoking was one of the issues highlighted during the interview. The pulmonologist explained that “for a long time, women did not smoke, but then the number of female smokers increased.” She adds that “it takes a period of time for the effects of tobacco to begin to be felt.”

Dr. Ana Figueiredo also emphasized the impact of new forms of smoking, which have increased among young people and adolescents, both men and women. Other factors such as environmental pollution and genetic mutations were also pointed out as contributing to the development of lung cancer.
Finally, the expert highlighted the importance of screenings and adopting healthy lifestyles as fundamental prevention strategies.
