10-Year Lung Cancer-Specific Survival for Low-Dose CT Persists

In a study published by the journal Radiology, it was observed that, for an expanded cohort of the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program (I-ELCAP), undergoing annual low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening, the survival rate specificity for lung cancer at 10 years of 80%, registered in 2006, remained at 20 years.

The researchers determined the 20-year lung cancer-specific survival of participants diagnosed with their first primary lung cancer through annual TCBD screening in the I-ELCAP cohort to update the cure rate. Eligible participants were aged 40 years or older and currently used or consumed cigarettes or were exposed to secondhand tobacco smoke.
