Radio Iris FM spoke with Dr. Daniela Madama, a member of the Scientific Committee of the Lung Cancer Study Group (GECP), about World Lung Cancer Day, which was signaled on August 1.
The expert began by highlighting the sensitization initiatives promoted by GECP over the years on this day, with the objective of alerting the population for lung cancer and reinforcing the importance of early diagnosis.
During the conversation, the pulmonologist addressed the prevalence of the disease, drawing attention to the increase of cases between women and also among the younger ones. He also pointed out that, in most cases, the diagnosis continues to be made in advanced phases of the disease.
