Opinion Article Dr. Daniela Madama – Lux Woman

Dr. Daniela Madama signed an opinion article on the Lux Woman website, where she addressed the growing prevalence of lung cancer among women.

Pulmonologist and member of the Scientific Committee of the Lung Cancer Study Group (GECP) explained why women have greater vulnerability to the disease. “Women seem to be more sensitive to the effects of tobacco, even when smoking less. In the last 40 years, diagnoses have increased by 84% in women, while decreasing 36% in men,” he says. According to Dr. Daniela Madama, this difference may be related to hormonal factors. “Studies suggest that female hormones, such as estrogen, can play a role in the way the disease evolves, which helps explain this worrying trend,” he says.
