The Professor. Gabriela Fernandes, member of the Board of Directors of the Lung Cancer Study Group (GECP), was one of the moderators of “Round Table 1: Malignant pleural effusion”.
The session addressed topics such as the prevalence of malignant pleural effusion, the main associated symptoms and the significant impact of this condition on patients’ quality of life. The diagnostic difficulties inherent to this pathology were also discussed, as well as clinical decisions regarding its palliative approach. The expert clarifies that “there is no single, generalized solution for all cases”.
The Professor. Gabriela Fernandes also highlighted the various challenges that malignant pleural effusion poses to clinical practice, in addition to sharing her perspectives on the advances that may arise in the near future in this area.
