Interview Prof. Gabriela Fernandes

Prof. Gabriela Fernandes, member of the GECP Board, was one of the moderators of the last session of the Congress, entitled “Round table: Screening, will we be able to do it?”.
The pulmonologist gives a positive assessment of the discussion, saying that it was a “very rich session, with colleagues who gave a different perspective from each point of view, based on the premise that screening is possible”. He adds that “limitations and needs were analyzed, based on what we have at the moment”. As a main message, the specialist highlights that “there is more than enough information on the screening recommendation, with pilot programs in other countries and the question is ‘why not in Portugal?'”.
Finally, he highlights the importance of multidisciplinarity, stating that “for screening we need involvement from primary health care to more differentiated care, so it makes no sense for the discussion to be just unilateral. Only with the sharing of needs and points of view is that we can get ideas and build a solution in a positive way.”
