Lung Cancer Study Group

In anticipation of World Lung Cancer Day, Dr. Ana Barroso, member of the Board of Directors of the Lung Cancer Study Group (GECP) was live last Saturday on CNN Portugal to comment on the importance of preventing this disease .

“Around 85 to 90% of lung cancer patients are or were smokers”, begins by mentioning the coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Thoracic Tumors Unit at ULS Gaia/Espinho.
The Pulmonology specialist adds that “radon gases, environmental pollution, tobacco in its passive form, non-traditional forms of tobacco, such as heated tobacco and electronic tobacco, are potential causes of lung cancer”.
